Over the Sea to Skye

On Monday, the Highland and History Genealogy Research Tour headed over the sea to Skye. This was quite a long drive but the scenery and wildlife made up for it.

Our destination was Armadale Castle and the Clan Donald Centre. The library had a bit of an internal communication disaster and the librarian wasn't aware that we were coming, but did an absolutely stellar job of managing all of the research requests.

The records in the library are unique to Clan Donald and the lands of the Lord of the Isles.

We had a lovely tour of the museum and had the chance to do research, wander the gardens and walk past the castle.

After our time at Armadale came to an end, we headed back to Inverness, stopping at the iconic Eilea Donan Castle for a photo op and, for some, an ice cream!
