Day of Arrival

Today is the day of arrival for the Orkney Tour. We started out with 12 participants and are down to just 4. So it is a cozy group. 

We all arrived at the Standing Stones Hotel, and being early for check-in, three of us chatted until it was time to get our rooms. 

The hotel is on the Loch of Stenness, 

and across the loch from the Stones at Stenness 

as well as the Ring of Brodgar and further east is Maeshowe, chambered cairn. We are in the heart of Neolithic Orkney. 

We enjoyed a meal together and tomorrow morning, after breakfast, we head into Kirkwall to the Library and Archives to begin our research.
